They’ll let anyone march in this parade…
I went to the St patrick’s day parade on Bank Street this past weekend and was pleasantly entertained by not only some pretty interesting bicycle contraptions, but also the information that most of the galactic empire claims some sort of connection with Ireland… Apparently the dark lord of the sith dons differently coloured capes for different holidays… The parade wasn’t n...

Vert BMX Tricks – Easy

Dead Sailor

When you are in the air, stiffen your arms and legs. It’s so easy it’s dumb.

Kickout

As soon as your back wheel leaves the jump, swing the rear of your bike around to the right or the left with your hips and legs. Once you swing your bike out bring it right back in. Don’t stay sideways too long. This is done a lot over spines.

One-footer

Simply take your right or left foot off your pedal, kick it out to the side, and bring it back on before you land. Your crank will rotate downward when your foot comes off the pedal, so be sure to get it back on in time to return your crank to a level position. start out small and gradually get bigger.

No-footer

Take both your feet off the pedals and stick them out to the side. Start out small and gradually work your way up to bigger no-footers. Wile you are in the air hold your back brake so that your crank does not rotate. Practice these on the ground to in an endo to help learn the feel of it. (if you have a front brake)

One-hander

Take one hand off the bars and bring it back. Try to keep your bars straight the whole time. Start out small. You can do many variations to this trick, like a tire-grab, seat-grab, knee tap, helmet tap etc. which will help you out later on different tricks.

No-hander

Just take your hands off in the air. Pinch the seat with your knees to keep your front end from dropping. Make sure the bars are straight and your hands are securely back on the handlebars before landing. Once you can do big no handers you can do barspins.

Can-can

It’s a lot like a one-footer except you cross your leg over the top tube. This is another trick that you have to start out small and work bigger.

Toboggan

A Toboggan is exactly like the old school flatland trick “Miami Hoppers” But only in the air. Let the front of the bike drop straight down. Lean way back over the seat like you are going to sit on the back tire.  Take your left hand off the bars and grab the nose of the seat. Pull back on your right hand so the bars turn 90 degrees to the left. If you can land it you can do a toboggan.
