A Day In Watford
Watford, North London is home to some of the nicest riders to come out of London. With what is far from a decent skatepark, it is beyond me how such a place has spawned such an array of talented riders. We spent an afternoon hanging with some of the locals; with a brief interruption of rain, we headed into town to session a curved ledge untill the park was dry enough to sneak in a few more clips...

Vert BMX Tricks – Difficult

Turndown

A turn down is like a vertical tabletop. Pull the front of your bike up so that it’s almost vertical. While doing this, turn your bike side ways. Push the hand closest to you over the top so that your now doing almost an x-up. flatten the bike to your body.

Un-turndown

Just like a turndown, but without the cross in your bars. Keep them in the normal position and do a turndown.

Flare

A flare is basically a backflip with a 180. When you are in the air, pull back on the handlebars like you are doing a backflip. When you do the backflip and you are staring at the ground, turn your handlebars to the right hard and swing the tail of the bike out. Once you do this, land.

Back Flip

Pedal and get a good amount of speed. Keep your feet on the pedals when you take off. Pull up on the bars, arch your back, tip your head back, and keep your eyes on the landing ramp. While in the air, keep your hands on the bars and your body in a low position. Land on your front wheel and bring the back wheel down on the ramp. Land with knees bent and be prepared to fall the first dozen times or so. If you land on your back wheel, you’ll bounce forward and over the handlebars. Don’t over rotate the flip.

Cliff Hanger

First get a lot of air. Then take your feet off of the pedals, hook them under the bars. Stick your arms straight up like you are hanging from your feet. Bring everything back and land.

360 tailwhip

Start to do a 360. When you get 180 degrees around, kick your frame around. Keep on spinning when you get 360 degrees around, catch your frame and put your feet on the pedals and land.
