A Day In Watford
Watford, North London is home to some of the nicest riders to come out of London. With what is far from a decent skatepark, it is beyond me how such a place has spawned such an array of talented riders. We spent an afternoon hanging with some of the locals; with a brief interruption of rain, we headed into town to session a curved ledge untill the park was dry enough to sneak in a few more clips...

BMX Bike Bars

BMX Bike Bars

Bars…

Unscrew all four or six bolts on your stem and put the bars in.  Tighten up the stem and you’re off.

If they slip…

If your bars slip, they might be stripped or damaged.  Take them off and clean the clamping section on the bars and stem.  You might also want to take a file and make knurls on the clamping area.  If the clamp bar is crushed then the bars are toast and you need to get some new ones.

If they’re too long…

If your bars are too long, you may want to cut them.  A good way to do this would be to use a pipe cutter, but a hacksaw would do just as well.  Be sure to carefully measure how much you want to take off so you don’t take off too much.

And to keep them nice…

Bar ends are a good idea.  Read the package for how to put them on.  They protect your bars from becoming mutilated when they hit the ground.  They are a good investment.  Some grips come with them.
