Handlebars
Handlebars are what grips and levers fasten to. They fastens to the stem. Most freestyle bars are chrome-moly and are from 2 – 8 pieces. BMX bars are generally 2 pieces and are aluminum or chro-mo. $10 – $90
Grips
Grips are what you hold on to. Freestyle grips are round all the way around so it does not matter how you put them on. Some BMX grips are odd shaped for better grip and comfort. $4 – $10
Levers
Levers are on the bars. You pull on them to brake. (slow down) $8 – $45 each
Gyro
A gyro or cable detangler allows you to spin your handlebars around and around without your brake cables getting tangled. If you have a front brake you also need a hollow stembolt (if you have threaded steering)
Gyro Junction
A gyro junction is where one cable is split into two cables so it can go to each side of the gyro.
Stem
A stem clamps on or in the fork. It holds on to the handle bars. Threaded stems have a shaft that goes down into the fork. It is held into place by a wedge. Threadless stems clamp on to the outside of the fork.
Headset
A headset is the bearings and bearing cups that are in the head tube. They allow your handlebars to spin.
Fork
The fork is what holds on to your front wheel. It is held on by the headset and the stem. Threaded forks have threads at the top of them. Threadless forks have no threads on the shaft.
Chainring (or Sprocket)
A sprocket goes on the inside of the crank. It is what pulls the chain.
Chain
The chain runs on the sprocket and on the freewheel. It is what drives the bike.
Pegs
Pegs extend your axles. You can stand on and grind on them.
